Jin-young Ko (28‧ Solaire) participated in the Cognizant Founders Cup (total prize money of $3 million), which has memories of winning two consecutive메이저놀이터 championships in the past, on the LPGA Tour this season try to win 2

Ko Jin-young will compete in the tournament held at Upper Montclair Country Club (par 71, 6656 yards) in Clifton, New Jersey, USA for four days starting on the 11th (local time).

The event started in 2012 to commemorate the 13 founding members of the LPGA. Since 2021, Cognizant, a global IT service company, has taken over as the title sponsor of the competition, doubling the amount of prize money compared to the previous competition.

As the high prize money is at stake, most of the world’s top players participate and compete for the championship. World No. 1 Nellie Corda (USA), No. 2 Lydia Ko (New Zealand), and defending champion Lee Min-ji (Australia) will participate in this event.

A total of 17 people are scheduled to appear in Korea, but the name that catches the eye the most is Ko Jin-young. Ko Jin-young is consistently showing off her top-class skills, becoming the only Korean player to win the championship this year.

Although she was sluggish due to her wrist injury in the second half of last year, she maintained her reputation by entering the top 10 four times, including one win, in the six individual events she participated in this year.

She also has fond memories from the Founders Cup.

After reaching the top in this competition in 2019, Ko Jin-young achieved two consecutive victories in 2021. The Founders Cup was not held in the aftermath of the novel coronavirus infection (Corona 19) in 2020.

Last year, I was tied for 17th place, and I had a good experience, although my three consecutive championships were canceled. The Founders Cup has changed its venue to Upper Montclair Country Club since last year.

After practicing several times before last year’s tournament, Ko Jin-young said, “The course is difficult, so my head hurts while planning the game.” Since his wrist condition is better this year than last year, it is worth looking forward to the good performance of Ko Jin-young, who has gained experience on this course.

Like Jinyoung Ko, Seiyoung Kim (30‧ Mediheal), who reached the top in this competition in the past, is aiming to escape from sluggishness through this tournament with good memories.

Kim Sei-young won the tournament in 2016 and reported four LPGA career victories. Kim Se-young, who has steadily accumulated multipliers since then, has been unrelated since the 2020 Pelican Championship. Kim Se-young, who has not been able to establish a relationship with the championship for more than two years, took a break last week to stock up on his stamina and challenges the championship this time.
