Last year’s US Open winner Matthew Fitzpatrick (England) gave a thumbs up to retired soccer star Gareth Bale (Wales) for his golf skills.
On the 2nd, the day before the opening of the PGA Tour AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, Fitzpatrick played the first nine holes with Bale at Pebble Beach Golf Links, one of the venues for the tournament.
According to Sky Sports, Fitzpatrick, a big fan of Sheffield United in the English Championship (second division), said after playing against Bale, “It was really cool.” He said, “It was the first time I officially met Bale, so it was nice to meet you. It was really, really fun,” he said.
He continued, “I ask him questions about 먹튀검증 football, and he asks about golf. I really enjoyed playing the first 9 holes. There aren’t many places better than this.”
Fitzpatrick is the winner of a major, partnering Bale at an event of the same nature in a matter of weeks, following Jon Rahm, who played with Bale at the Farmers Insurance Open pro-am event that ended last week.
Spaniard John Rahm said, “You cannot play professional football and golf well at the same time. This is not fair,” he praised his talent.
When asked if Bale was as good as Ram said, Fitzpatrick said, “I don’t know what John said, but he (Bale) is definitely a great player. He obviously has a lot of talent. It was impressive,” he said.
This tournament is held in a way that amateur golfers and professional players play together. For three days, 156 players each will compete at Pebble Beach Golf Links, Spyglass Hill Golf Course, and Monterey Peninsula Country Club.
The performance of amateurs is also important as the ranking is based on the combined performance of professional and amateur golfers. Score aggregation is a ‘better ball’ method in which the better score of the two is adopted. In the final 4 rounds, professional golfers compete for the championship at Pebble Beach.
Because of this game style, there are many amateur golfers who are known to be top players.
Golf.com reported that among 156 amateur golfers who competed in the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am this year, Bale (Handicap 2) was found to have the second best golf skills based on the official handicap standard.
Bale will be paired with Korn Ferry Tour Championship winner Joseph Bramlett for three days.
